Epistemic uncertainty
Epistemic uncertainty: Uncertainty caused by limited model knowledge, potentially reducible with better data or information. It is typical of regions with few examples or out-of-distribution conditions. Ensembles, approximate Bayesian methods and active learning attempt to estimate or reduce it. Examples include Class with few examples, Unexplored chemical space, Input far from the training set.
